Further to previous notices, we are writing to provide you with an update on infection control measures we are implementing in association with the current public health crisis and annual flu season.

Last week, we confirmed a series of measures to protect the health and safety of residents, staff, volunteers and contractors. Despite the fact we have not had any confirmed cases of COVID-19 yet, and out of an abundance of caution, the following measures are still in effect until further notice:

  1. All bus trips and entertainers that come into the building regularly are suspended.
  2. All volunteer visits and care home tours are suspended.
  3. Regular phone calls are being made to families informing them of new measures and asking them not to visit unless absolutely necessary.
  4. No visitors are allowed into the Care Centre, other than designated loved ones in unique circumstances.
  5. Designated loved ones have been provided direct phone numbers for their family member’s unit and iPads will be made available to Facetime starting next week.
  6. Posters are in place at all Care Centres and Manor entrances and elevators.
  7. Staff are being screened prior to each shift and are being asked to go home if they are not well.
  8. Reception coverage has been extended to evening hours where possible.
  9. Cleaning procedures are being continuously enhanced with Clorox wipes being applied to commonly touched areas at least twice a day.

In addition, our Three Links Leadership Team is preparing in case a confirmed case arises here. We are also holding regular staff meetings (2 this week), delivering on-line staff training and participating in regular calls with our partners at Vancouver Coastal Health, Safe Care BC and BC Care Providers Association, which is coordinating a sector wide response with the provincial and federal Health Ministries.

At the same time, we are continuing to implement measures to prevent influenza, gastral intestinal illness and promote quality of life for the residents we serve.

Thank you again for your ongoing patience and support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (604) 434-7211.
