Thanks to our wonderful local librarian at the Renfrew branch, Jan Fu, we now have library materials for volunteers to use during one-on-one visits. Jan has been interviewing residents about their interests and selecting the perfect books, CDs, and DVDs for residents and volunteers to enjoy together. You and your residents can read out loud, groove to some music, or settle in to watch a good movie together — it’s all about relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.

Each resident in the program has their very own book box in the volunteer office, filled with new materials each week. If your resident would like to continue using the materials after your visit, you can return them during next week’s shift.

There’s a CD player on the bookshelf for volunteers to take along for listening to music and audio books.

If you know a resident who would love to be part of this program, speak up! We’d love to have Jan select the perfect materials for them too.

Roopal Rai is our volunteer liaison for this program. We’ll be looking for a new liaison when she returns to Montreal for school in September. If that sounds up your alley, please get in touch with Liz at volunteers@threelinks.com
