Dear friends,

Further to previous notices and as promised, here is an update on our infection control efforts related to the current public health crisis and influenza season.

Thankfully, Three Links still does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 but the measures we announced previously here, here, herehere, and here remain in effect until further notice.

Our Leadership Team continues to hold regular briefings, participate in Health Authority teleconferences and practice outbreak protocols. Most contracted services remain suspended until further notice so building access remains limited. We have continued to retain almost all our care staff with the BC policy requiring all care staff to work at one location.

Provincial Pandemic Response

In addition to providing weekly updates on pandemic planning for our Three Links Board and Family Advisory Council over the past number of weeks, our Leadership Team has continued collaborating with SafeCare BC and the BC Care Providers Association. They are talking daily with the provincial and federal health officials regarding the supply of personal protective equipment and staffing levels.

We can all be thankful that this Team BC approach has saved lives and helped prevent the troubling long term care outbreaks we have been watching the military respond to in Ontario and Quebec. Here is an article published in Saturday’s Vancouver Sun that captures this work.

A beautiful picture drawn by a staff member’s daughter to lift the spirits of the Three Links team!

Community Support

We continue to receive a significant amount of community support during this time of crisis. It means so much to our team. In fact we have received so much good well we have set up a special link on our website to recognize everyone. We will be updating the link regularly. Click here to see for yourself.

We also had a great Mother’s Day weekend. Patio visits and flower deliveries kept our entire team very busy all weekend. We were pleased to be featured on Global TV’s Sunday newscast too! You can watch the video on the Global News website.
