On Sunday, June 25th, Three Links Care Centre held an open house high tea to celebrate 35 years of caring in the Renfrew Collingwood community.  The event was very well attended by a wide range of community partners, stakeholders, residents, families, staff and volunteers.  There was a lovely chamber group playing music throughout the afternoon, while guests dined on a homemade high tea menu designed and prepared by our in house chef, Rickey Au-Yeung.

“We’re extremely proud to be celebrating this milestone with our residents, staff, volunteers and community”, said David Procter, Board Chair of Three Links Care Society.  “Three Links Care Centre has proven to be a leading edge centre of excellence throughout the past 35 years.  We have staff and volunteers who have been here since we opened in 1982.”

The caring nature of the staff and the diverse resident group has made Three Links Care Centre a place where people want to be.  The event was attended by well over 100 people and paid special tribute to two employees who have been with Three Links for the entire 35 years.  Rosie Ali and Lorina Perry were recognized for their extended service to seniors at Three Links Care Centre over the years.

“I recall being truly amazed at all the loving care everyone showed toward the residents, and all the activities they provided to keep them happy.  It was then I knew in my heart that this is where I wanted to work.” said Rosie Ali, a 35 year staff member at Three Links Care Centre.

Guests dressed up in vintage props and had fun posing at the photo booth.  Pink lemonade cascading from the punch fountain also offered a nice gathering spot.

“Three Links is doing a wonderful job, caring for my father.  He is very happy here and his old self is showing again.” remarks City of Vancouver Councillor Kerry Jang.

The high tea celebration marks the beginning of a year-long tribute to our organization.  Stay tuned for lots of exciting things to be showcased throughout the year.
